Design Philosophy

GreenTech Automotive espouses a very simple design philosophy: design, develop, manufacture, and market environmentally friendly, energy-efficient vehicles. GTA’s core values encompass green technology, affordability, and job creation.

To GTA, green technology starts with efficient hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric powertrain technologies. How to choose? By purpose of use.

We believe, for example, there’s a whole new category of vehicle in your future: purpose-built, local use electric vehicles. Small and efficient, clean as can be, these new EV’s will get you around town, to school, shopping, and errands. Totally electric, at cents a day, and as fun and personal as you can imagine.Watch for GTA’s first neighborhood electric vehicle, MyCar, coming soon.

For longer distances, we’ll offer another solution. Right now, a “tank of electrons” won’t quite get you from Los Angeles to Las Vegas or from New York City to Washington, DC. EVs don’t offer that sort of range . . . yet. But it’s coming. So, if much of your driving includes long distances, a hybrid or a plug-in hybrid is right for you.

GTA will offer you choices with a growing portfolio of fun, efficient, and clean vehicles to serve your needs.

Design Priorities

Packaging Efficiency
A vehicle is much more than an engine or motor. One of the key tenets of our design philosophy is a commitment to packaging efficiency, functional design and head-turning styling. For example, our small neighborhood electric (NEV), MyCar, features innovative packaging that includes a spacious interior and an expansive greenhouse for excellent outward visibility and an airy feeling when running around the neighborhood.

While many electric vehicles owe their existence to a conventional piston engine automobile converted to electric power, GTA’s design and engineering team takes a different approach. For example, EVs don’t require an engine and a conventional cooling system, so we place the electric motor behind the occupants and position the batteries under the floor. This design results in a remarkable amount of interior space for passengers.Every future GTA vehicle will be subject to a similar functional, ergonomic analysis before the very first line is drawn on a CAD screen.

A Weighty Subject
Weight is the enemy of efficiency, so GTA makes sure that a light, rigid platform is at the top of our design priorities. And there’s no denying that current EV batteries are heavy. But by carefully considering the intended use and performance needs of each model, GTA designers strive to minimize overall vehicle weight. Light weight and a stiff chassis allow us to engineer ride, handling, steering, and braking characteristics that make our cars fun to drive. Just because a car is friendly to the environment doesn’t mean it has to be boring to drive.

Power (and Range) to the People
In our research and application, the terms energy density and power density arise frequently. Energy is the amount of power consumed over time, and power is how quickly something consumes energy. These translate to driving range and acceleration, respectively. Our goal is to maximize both while reducing battery weight.

Safety
And, of course, a car must incorporate high levels of active and passive safety. MyCar, our low-speed NEV, incorporates GTA’s safety cell technology, featuring an aluminum space frame with rigid, energy-absorbing structures up front and tall side sills to help prevent injuries during side impacts. MyCar also has 4-wheel disc brakes and responsive steering and handling. For us, safety is a high priority.

Interior
Inside, a car has to be comfortable to drive. You want supportive seats that you sit in, not on. All controls and switches need to be instinctive to operate and easy to read. Gauges should provide the important information you need, at a glance. Our interior designers pay careful attention to ergonomics, comfort, and functionality.

Fun-To-Own
Fun-to-own is an important attribute. This encompasses such things as curb appeal, economical to operate and service, high quality, excellent durability and reliability. Let’s also not forget the fun of never having to stop to buy a drop of expensive gasoline!

Or that no green technology is truly green until it is Affordably Green.
