With Mississippi's unemployment rate continuing to hover around 10 percent, many are desperately looking for jobs. As MPB's Sandra Knispel reports, more than 2,500 came to the DeSoto job fair in Southaven yesterday, resumes in hand.

GreenTech Intends to Build E.V.'s in Mississippi
The MyCar is a Smart-sized, two-seat electric vehicle with an international pedigree to match its manufacturer's outsize ambitions. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, one of the auto industry's most famous stylists, the MyCar was originally intended for a manufacturer based in Hong Kong. But the diminutive E.V. is now scheduled to be produced by GreenTech Automotive, based in Mississippi, and shipped to Denmark for European distribution later this year.

And Lyn Arnold, president and CEO of the Tunica County Chamber of Commerce, told the Mississippi Business Journal in an interview last week that she hopes an announcement related to the beginning of construction at the company's planned Tunica facility will be made "within a couple of months."

Terry McAuliffe Pursues a New Shade of Green With MyCar Project
Since 1980, Terry McAuliffe has raised prodigious sums for lawmakers and presidents and ran the Democratic National Committee. He made millions in real estate, banking, homebuilding and credit cards, and now he's turning his attention to so-called green technology. In the past year, he founded GreenTech Automotive Inc. and bought MyCar, an all-electric two-seater originally made in southern China. Bloomberg's Peter Cook reports.
