Terry McAuliffe Announces Electric Vehicle MyCar As Official Automobile For World-Renowned "Bright Green Island" Project

Award-Winning MyCar Becomes Official Vehicle For Danish Island Bornholm On Its Path To 100% Carbon Neutrality

McLean, Virginia, September 2, 2010 – Terence R. McAuliffe, Chairman of Greentech Automotive (GTA), announced on the Danish island of Bornholm that the award-winning Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV) MyCar, GTA’s inaugural product, has become the official vehicle for that island as it moves to become 100% carbon neutral.

McAuliffe presented the keynote address for Bornholm's August 28, 2010 gathering of worldwide sustainability leaders.  The event highlighted Bornholm's "Bright Green Island" initiatives to establish the 43,000-person island as a global leader for expansive use of clean technology and renewable energy, with a goal of 100% carbon neutrality.

In his remarks, McAuliffe highlighted the partnership between GTA and Bornholm to make the island a world leader in green transport.  A multi-month test phase with 10 MyCars has been underway on the island, with overwhelmingly positive early results.  GTA will incorporate the results of this test phase and deliver a new fleet of U.S.-built MyCars to the island in 2011.  "It is Greentech Automotive's goal to use Bornholm as the platform to begin selling MyCars throughout Europe," McAuliffe said.

McAuliffe spoke in support of Bornholm's ambitious "Bright Green Island" projects, including year-round sustainable housing construction and its Port of Green Tech Energy, a harbor for research and development of sustainable technologies.  McAuliffe also praised the installation of 35 wind turbines, generating nearly 40 megawatts of power, and noted their leadership in biomass energy by converting waste and straw into power.  He emphasized that these innovations will help pave the way for continued green energy development and job growth in the United States.

While on the island, McAuliffe also held discussions with industry leaders about further applications of MyCar in the United States and worldwide. McAuliffe praised the Danish government for taking a global leadership role in electric vehicles, as the country recently eliminated its massive 180% car registration tax for those who purchase an electric vehicle.  The Bornholm Tidende highlighted McAuliffe’s comments, noting “Americans believe in green growth” (trans.).

McAuliffe’s "Bright Green Island" keynote comes after the May 2010 announcement that GTA had acquired EuAuto, the manufacturer of MyCar, as a wholly-owned subsidiary and begun its partnership with Bornholm.
