Suresh Nair - Plant Manager, MS Operations

Suresh NairSuresh Nair, head of GreenTech Automotive's manufacturing operations, is helping position the company to pioneer the manufacturing and sale of environmentally sound automobiles, which are economically viable. His leadership and passion for his work stems from 17 years of manufacturing experience, 15 years of which has been in the automotive industry working on world-renowned vehicles including the Corvette and Cadillac XLR.

In his career, Nair has worked with some of the most advanced, commanding teams in the industry.

In the decade prior to joining GreenTech Automotive, Nair held several leadership positions at General Motors, including a three-year assignment leading manufacturing efforts in China for the launch of the first passenger car for General Motors under the Baojun brand. General Motors selected him to lead this effort due to his broad experience in product development and engineering, manufacturing quality control and manufacturing operations. The 2011 Shanghai Auto Show showcased the Baojun which was launched in July 2011.

In 1997 Nair joined the Corvette team as its electrical engineer for the launch of the 5th Generation Corvette. In subsequent years at General Motors, Nair took on several leadership roles at the Corvette plant. He was responsible in leading the Corvette plant to several major accomplishments, including Best-In-Segment. He also led the manufacturing quality team and the electrical engineering team for the launch of the Ultra-Luxury Cadillac XLR, which introduced innovative concepts such as high speed LAN, touch start ignition and adaptive cruise control.

His passion for automotive engineering and manufacturing began at a young age. While an engineering under-graduate, he researched development of hybrid motorcycles. As a graduate student at Central Michigan, he proved through simulation that Cellular Manufacturing Methodology was far more efficient than Traditional Batch Manufacturing. His work was awarded the best research award for 1996.

Nair holds a Masters in Business Administration from Central Michigan, a Masters in Engineering from Purdue University, and a Bachelor of Science in electronic engineering from Bharathiar University.
